Meet the BTA Mentor Team
Our mentors advise students on aspects of their college planning and applications, including: interest/passion identification, extracurricular activity selection, course selection, summer school program selection and application, research program selection and application, school list building, college major selection, brainstorming, essay outlining and editing, and finalizing the application.

They will help create a detailed plan for each student, to help them:

Rose
Rose has worked as an academic consultant since 2021. She has advisory experience across multiple subject areas, including algebra, Spanish, and writing, and specializes in tailoring strategies to students’ unique academic and professional aspirations.

In the past couple years, she has advised incoming Georgetown students seeking prestigious internships in the U.S. Senate, assisted Spanish-speaking students entering the D.C. school system as a bilingual tutor, and worked with high school students to create a long-term admissions strategy. Looking forward, Rose is excited to finish her degree in International Political Economy from Georgetown, pursue a career in international economic development, and help other highly motivated students achieve their own goals.

Ritika
Ritika is a junior at Princeton University studying computer science and quantitative decision science. As someone who has recently been through the application process and gotten into a top university, she understands how to use students’ past experiences and profiles to strategize college lists and help achieve students’ college goals. She’s especially experienced in creating strong extracurricular lists based on a student’s interests to further define their application theme, and looks forward to working with you!

Pooja
Pooja, a current Brown University undergraduate, is pursuing a dual degree in Public Health and Statistics through the PLME (8 year BS/MD) program, aiming to blend her passions for policy and medicine into a career focused on health equity.
​
Pooja's background includes tutoring at Kumon, where she guided students from basic concepts to advanced skills. With a perfect ACT score, she also excelled in tutoring ACT English and math. As a consultant, Pooja draws from her experience to help students navigate the complex college application process, aiming to ease anxieties and empower students on their educational journey.

Swetha
Swetha, a determined and diligent undergraduate at Georgetown University, is studying Government and Economics, with aspirations to channel her skills into a future career in law. As a current junior, Swetha's tenacity and commitment shine through her academic achievements and beyond.

For the past two years, Swetha has been providing invaluable guidance to several students in Common App and Supplementary Essay writing, building and framing extracurriculars, and the American college application process. Her experience in this realm mirrors her commitment to fostering educational growth and helping others succeed. Her tutoring prowess is further highlighted by her previous role as an instructor at Kumon Math and Reading Center.

Haruka
Haruka is a dynamic and driven student at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service, a recent graduate of Phillips Academy Andover and Fay School. As a trilingual and an International student coming from Tokyo, Japan, and Beijing, China, Haruka is poised to create a lasting impact with her exceptional blend of academic prowess and diverse, international experiences. As a student from East Asia who has underwent the admission process for American junior boarding, boarding, and college, Haruka possesses comprehensive knowledge and first-handed experiences of applying to, as well as studying at American educational institutions.

As a personal oversees educational consultant, Haruka has in-depth experiences with supporting Japanese and Chinese international students with their American boarding school application processes, which includes perfecting applicants’ essay writing skills, strategizing their extracurriculars, and setting them up for success in multifaceted approaches.

Courtney
Courtney has worked as an academic consultant since 2022. While in high school, she spearheaded a free student-run math tutoring program, giving her relevant experience working with all types of learners. Additionally, she has advisory experience in classwork such as biology, writing & rhetoric, advanced math, economics, and Spanish, with a focus on adapting to the individual students needs and learning mindset. Moreover, by investing in her community through advocating for under-privileged children in the Houston Area and working with local city government, she has developed a passion for not only helping others, but ensuring the sustainability of the skills they acquire. So far, Courtney has provided brainstorming and peer-editing services for the college admissions process.
As Courtney pursues a degree in international economics and a minor in international development from Georgetown University, she hopes to help others make their passions come to life.

Emma
Emma is a third-year student at Cornell University, currently studying Healthcare Policy with minors in Business and Global Health. She has over four years of experience teaching SAT English and Math, as well as tutoring children from ages 6-17 in a myriad of pre-college subjects. Emma's strengths lie at college essay writing, and is extremely adaptive in changing her teaching style to best match her student's needs.
Emma currently has four published articles from her research at the Janecka Lab in the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and is currently working on immunology and microbiology studies at the Cazer Lab in Cornell University. Aside from her research, Emma is also part of various consulting organizations on campus, healthcare clubs, and the recreational fencing team.
Emma has the unique ability to get to know her students on a deep, personal level with a short amount of time, and thus there is no doubt she will be able to sculpt your application to be the best representation of yourself.

Saujas
Saujas has three years of experience working with students on their AP classes, SAT exams, and college applications. He worked at Kweller Prep, where he helped students prepare for their AP exams. He is experienced in helping students tailor their extracurriculars and supplemental essays to maximize their chances of being admitted into T-20 schools.
At Cornell University, Saujas is majoring in Operations Research and Information Engineering with minors in Business and Computer Science. On campus, he spends a large portion of his time tutoring students and leading Academic Excellence Workshops for multivariable calculus and linear algebra. Additionally, Saujas is in Phi Chi Theta, a national business fraternity, and in Cornell Autoboat, a student-run organization that works with autonomous vehicles. Saujas is very experienced in all facets of the college admissions process.

Maitri
Maitri is a motivated and driven student at the University of Michigan, studying computer science. She is deeply committed to helping students navigate their academic journeys and making the most out of their college experience.

In the past, Maitri has tutored students in subjects ranging from math, English, Spanish, and programming. She has been awarded the William Branstrom Prize which honors students who rank in the upper five percent of their class at the University of Michigan. She has an unwavering commitment to see her clients grow as individuals. She is excited to provide insights on academics, extracurriculars, and life beyond college. Lucy
Lucy is a third-year student at Cornell University pursuing a Psychology major and an Education minor. For the past seven years, she has been working with students in both classroom settings and private one-on-one lessons across a wide range of ages. In the classes that she leads, she crafts individualized curriculums catered to each student. Having earned high scores in over a dozen AP classes and the SAT, Lucy is skilled in creating plans foundational to success.In addition to her ambitious academic endeavors in high school, Lucy remained a competitive pianist and flutist while also remaining connected to her community by spearheading city-wide cultural events and raising over five grand for the local homeless shelter. With these experiences, Lucy specializes in weaving captivating stories unique to an individual by integrating both academic and personal interests crucial in the admissions process.

Alexander
I spent my senior year volunteering in the Hunter College High School counseling department, which afforded me much experience learning from other counselors than the one I was assigned, and furthermore have continued to play an active role guiding Hunter graduates interested in either Brown University or the finance industry, a direct experience in mentorship. I have had early and intensive involvement with the finance industry, which offers me a lens to speak to success in and after college. My history with public/persuasive speaking and leadership experiences have provided me with strong interpersonal skills.

Grace
Grace is a senior at Cornell University studying Applied Economics and Management with concentrations in strategy and business analytics. In the past, she has mentored over ten students in college advising, whether it be in essay writing and editing, college planning, or SAT and ACT exam preparation. She has four years of experience helping students throughout their college application process in applying to T-20 universities. As someone who has contributed to numerous literary magazines, she is passionate about helping students show the best side of themselves through their personal statements.
At Cornell, Grace is involved in leadership for several business clubs and cultural clubs. She is also involved in several publications as both a writer and editor. Professionally, she has worked at Goldman Sachs as a FinTech Focus Fellow and consulted for companies including CCC Intelligent Solutions and Icon Payments.
Eric
Eric is a junior at Johns Hopkins University, pursuing a major in computer science and a minor in entrepreneurship and management. He has worked as a developer in the Delineo Disease Modeling Project since 2023 and is passionate about the intersection of health and data sciences.
Eric has experience in peer tutoring students in various mathematics and programming classes. He has also worked with various college applicants in essay writing, specializing in narrative structure and voice. His literary work has been featured in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Outside of academics, he is involved in music production as well as activism for the Asian community at Hopkins.
